How would a student with behavioral or emotional needs benefit from the help of a similar conflict-resolution team? What special considerations are needed to prepare a student with behavioral or emotional needs to be a resolution team member?

If students feel as though they are going to constantly be punished and reprimanded for their behaviors, they will not fully engage in the room and with others. Students need to learn how to adapt and solve conflicts that come about. The teacher that leads the conflict-resolution prompts the students to answer questions on what the steps are to solve conflicts. She encourages the students to develop a resolution by having the students decide who will apologize first and whether they will take turns. The students agree that they will take turns apologizing to one another, this helped solve the conflict much easier. A student with a behavioral or emotional problem would benefit from a conflict-resolution team because it would allow the student to calm down and express what they wanted from the original disagreement. Students with these disabilities often do not have the same cognitive processes as students without disabilities, therefore, more time and patience needs to be given to these students in order for them to fully grasp the idea of solving conflicts amongst themselves.
